Information
The BEAT Running Festival is a knockout race built around repeated 1 km rounds, where you keep running as long as you can keep up with an increasing pace. The race starts at a pace of 6:30 minutes per kilometer, meaning you have 6:30 minutes to complete the first 1 km loop. After every round, the pace increases by 15 seconds, reducing the allowed time per kilometer (for example: 6:15, 6:00, 5:45, and so on), down to a minimum pace of 3:30 min/km. Each round is led by an official pacer who runs the exact minimum pace required, acting as a moving time limit throughout the race.
You are free to run faster than the pacer, but you can only start the next round once the pacer crosses the start/finish line again. If you finish behind the pacer, you are eliminated. If you finish ahead of the pacer, you’ve completed the round within the required time and can continue to the next round.
The race continues in this format, round after round, with increasing intensity and a slowly shrinking group. Until only one man and one woman remain: the Last Man Standing and Last Woman Standing.
In addition to the individual competition, teams of three participants (with at least one woman) can compete in the Team Challenge, where every completed round by each team member counts towards a combined team total, and the team with the highest number of total rounds wins.
The event takes place in the 'Amsterdamse Bos'. All of this is set within a high-energy festival environment featuring music, food & drinks, a challenge zone, and a strong community atmosphere, making it not just a race, but a full experience.
